The Divinity of Her Eye

You are of Her image.
You could not be too much.
She would not overshower
your gardens.
Be watered
Be nurtured
But She need not for you to be compliant.
She made you to rebel.
To buck.
To ring.
To echo from creation’s
dawn to dusk.
And they will call you disruptive.
And they will call you disobedient.
And they will call for you
to repent.
But you need not allow it to your heart,
for they haven’t yet the words to describe
the divinity of Her eye.
She made you to be loud.
She made you to be more.
She made you to want for more.
She made you to claw.
To grit your teeth.
To swallow it all and
share it with your sister.
To ask of your mother,
and your mother’s mother,
and the one who came before them all.
For unto you is First Mother.
Her.
And She gave everything for you.
Your femininity is not ornamental.
It is weapon and war.
And for those who are weak,
who are unsure and untrue—
be it fatal.
But to measure a woman
by voice and vanity
and declare her “enough”
will be man’s fall.
Because hell hath no fury
like a woman bored.
